We recognize that cell phones and smart watches are regularly brought into school. In order to maintain the security of our testing sessions, as well as to reduce distractions for others, we are discouraging students from bringing their phones, smart watches, headphones, or any other electronic devices with them to DCMST during final exams.
Should your student absolutely need to bring these devices with them to school, here are the expectations:
- If any device comes into the testing room, students will be directed to turn them off and put them in the phone caddy during the testing session.
- At the end of the testing session, they will receive them back.
- Students will not be allowed to have their devices if they finish the exam early.
- Any student who has a phone out during an active testing session may receive disciplinary action in accordance with our student code of conduct, possibly resulting in an out of school suspension, as well as possible invalidation of that exam.
We recognize this may be an inconvenience, but feel confident that this will better support a more secure and focused testing atmosphere. As a reminder, Dearborn Public Schools is NOT responsible for lost or stolen cell phones or electronic devices.
